It was 50 years ago, on 31 August 1967, on the eve of the Formula 1 GP at the Monza Circuit, that a car created by the inspired pen of Franco Scaglione, a car that immediately achieved legendary status, was launched. That car was the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale.

To celebrate the occasion, the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo, in association with the Alfa Romeo brand and the FCA Heritage department, has curated a temporary exhibition, a kind of 33-step itinerary that traces the history, leading characters and successes of the entire 33 project, starting from the 33/2 Daytona, 33/3, 33 TT12 e 33 SC12 Turbo racing cars, which brought Alfa Romeo a long series of amazing successes in general, and concluding with five of the six prototypes built on the 33 chassis by grand masters of design: Carabo, Iguana, 33/2 Speciale, Cuneo and Navajo.

The 33 Stradale is still revered today for epitomising a perfect balance between refined mechanics and their stylish cladding, in a symbiosis encapsulated in one of the Brand's favourite expressions, “Necessary beauty”, the title of the exhibition on show to visitors to the Museo Storico Alfa Rome from 31 August during normal opening hours (10 am to 6 pm, closed on Tuesdays).
