The Italian Ministry of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation promotes Italian design throughout the world.
Two great design works are on display at Farnesina, the seat of the Italian Foreign Ministry.
The ministry’s headquarters have become the unlikely backdrop for a private exhibition of the best design works to have won the Compasso d'Oro (Golden Compass), the world’s oldest and most authoritative design award, which was established in 1954 by ADI (Association for Industrial Design).
The Compasso d'Oro has twice rewarded the innovative style of the legendary Fiat 500: in 1959 (Fiat 500N designed by Dante Giacosa) and in 2011 with the victory of the new Fiat 500, which was conceived in 2007 by Roberto Giolito.
Both cars will be exhibited for the duration of the event in front of the Foreign Ministry building, in Piazza della Farnesina in Rome.
