ABARTH CLASSICHE 1000 SP
The Abarth Classiche 1000 SP, inspired by the legendary 1966 Abarth sports car reinterpreted in a contemporary key, is the brainchild of a 2009 project by Centro Stile Fiat and Abarth.
The style and aesthetic cues of the classic forerunner are evoked in the new design, like in the mid-engined barchetta layout and the cockpit glazing with characteristic contoured side windows and profile lowered towards the roll-bar in sight. The all-red livery of the contemporary version is also inspired by the forerunner and reasserted by characteristic air intake slits. The lights follow the minimalist scheme of the historic 1000 SP, with point-like headlamps on the nose and a single pair of round taillights.
Unlike the tubular frame of the classic Sport Prototype, the 1000 SP has a hybrid chassis with a carbon fibre central cell and an aluminium front end.
Performance is secured by a 1742 cc, four-cylinder supercharged aluminium mid-engine, capable of delivering up to 240 hp of peak power. The car has a wishbone suspension at the front and an advanced MacPherson layout at the rear. The brakes are dual-cast self-ventilated perforated 305x28 with Brembo 4-piston fixed callipers at the front and self-ventilated perforated 292x22 at the rear.
The Abarth Classiche 1000 SP is the first car ever to sport one of the Classiche brands under the Heritage banner.
Only five units of the car were made after its debut at the 2022 “Auto e Moto d'Epoca” motor show in Padua.
